The first three years of a child's life are
amongst the most important. Self-esteem and
confidence are built and social interactions are
learnt. A baby has an incredibly hard job being
busy all the time. As parents, grandparents and
carers, we have to support them in every way
possible.
A baby's development is determined equally by
both its genes and its environment. In order to
flourish your baby needs to feel welcomed and
loved. When your baby decides to crawl into
another room to follow mummy's voice and finds
her, the task is a success of baby's own doing.
A parent's job is to be patient, make sure baby
is aware of the limits and to not let themselves
get wrapped around those baby fingers!
One of the aims of the exercises is to
support the development of your baby's
self-esteem. Baby will have a sense of pride
when she realizes that 'I can do this all by
myself'. Your role is to show baby how things
are achieved and give her a helping hand and
support until she can do it for herself.
Games and exercises are important to help
your baby's motor skills, senses and
personality. By playing along with baby you also
develop a strong relationship which should last
a lifetime.
With all the games and play time it is
important for your baby to be motivated.
Playtime should be part of your daily routine,
20 minutes is a good length for both you and
baby to stay concentrated on your play.
